Mykonos emerged as the Americans’ most favourite European island for the year 2006, according to the Reader’s Choice Awards of Conde Nast Traveler, the most prestigious American tourist magazine! The Award goes to Mykonos for the third consecutive year, as, so much in 2004 as in 2005, it came out on the top position too.  The glamorous Award ceremony took place at the Natural History Museum in New York on October 16th 2006 and was broadcasted live from the Travel Channel.

Another worldwide distinction for Mykonos, as the ‘Pearl of the Cyclades’, came with the Swiss Tourism Awards, during the International Tourist Exhibition ‘I Viaggiatori’ that took place in Lugano, Switzerland from October 29th through November 1st 2006.
